Arsenal interested in signing Valencia defensive star

As reported by The Daily Telegraph, Arsenal are seeking new blood at left-back to address a long-term concern in the position.

What’s the story?

With Nacho Monreal turning 30 and Kieran Gibbs unable to force his way into Arsene Wenger’s plans, Arsenal’s long-term prospects on the left hand side of defence aren’t particularly great.

The Telegraph reckon the Wenger is intent on fixing that problem and remains interested in Valencia’s Jose Gaya.

Any move for a new player could force out the likes of Gibbs this summer, who badly needs first team football to avoid stagnating as a player.

Who is Gaya?

Jose Gaya is a Spanish U21 international who looks to have a very bright future in the game. Already a first team regular at Valencia at the age of just 21, he’s one of the continents most promising left-backs.

An all-rounder, the Spaniard can tackle, intercept and dribble into the opposition half with tireless work ethic which would suit Arsenal’s style of play massively given their propensity to build attacks down the flanks.

With Valencia in a precarious position in La Liga, a move to another successful and talented side would be a step up for the defender and we can’t think of a better place to develop as a player than under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates.
